Dubai is a playground for the rich and famous, what with the five-star hotels dominating the skyline and a range of activities available to choose. But just a little bit of local knowledge opens plenty of budget friendly experiences. We have put together a list of things which will help you with a Dubai budget travel experience and make the tour fun for you as well!
Park Life
You might have thought that this city of skyscrapers and six-lane highways might not have a lot of green, but you’re wrong. Zabeel Park is one of the city’s largest green spaces. This landscaped park is home to barbecue areas and picnic tables, along with a boating lake, a bike track, and a mini-train for kids. The admission fee costs very little. The park is also home to the Ripe Food & Craft Market which is held from 9am to 3pm on every Friday.
Discover the City on Your Bike
Dubai has also invested in a bike-sharing scheme like many other cities. You can rent sturdy bikes on a low cost on either the Dubai Marina promenade or the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Boulevard. Take in some of the best views of the city from over your bike, from the sight of the Burj Khalifa to the beautiful lights of the Dubai Marina at night.
Cool the Heat at Kite Beach
Dubai has an amazing golden sand coastline, but most of these lands have been grabbed by five-star hotels that charge expensive rates for access. Kite Beach is a free stretch of land with lifeguards and is popular among families. The broadwalk has many cool cafes, along with facilities, watersports, sunbed, and a skatepark.
Amazing Food for Next to Nothing
Every cuisine in the world is represented in the city but can be a part of your Dubai budget travel experience as well if you know where to look. If you want huge bowls of Pakistani food, Ravi is the local legend. You can also get shawarmas and many other traditional Levant street food as well.
Retail Therapy the Old-Fashioned Way
As Dubai’s malls can end up being quite pricey, head over to the Creek to shop as if you’re in the traditional souks. Buy spices, gold, frankincense on the Deira side, and snap up Pashminas and Arabian style slippers over on the Bur Dubai bank. You can always haggle hard to make a bargain.
